Rugcutters held Spring Swing yesterday. It was awesome. We had three live bands, we got some of the best dancers from the Twin Cities to come, the dancing was terrific. I had a great time. Also, in the afternoon, we held a crash course for a couple hours, but no one showed, so a group of us just danced for a couple hours. All told, I danced for almost 6 hours yesterday. My feet are still tired, but it felt great to get out on the dance floor.
After the crash course, I went to the Carleton International Festival. The student performances were cool, but what really made this good was the food. I couldn’t tell you how many different types of cuisine I had, but it was great to try so many things. I’m not sure that I had a favorite.
From there, I went to check out Tofu Fest on the Chapel lawn. Strange though it may sound, Tofu Fest was pretty cool too. Among other things, it involved the tofu race, tofu smoothies, tofu carving, and of course, the competition for Tofu Princess. About the latter, let’s just say there’s an abundance of creativity on this campus. Last year’s tofu princess was a professor’s son (he’s probably 4 years old or so). He, myself, and another student entered into the tofu race (like an egg race, but with tofu). Unfortunately, at his age, he couldn’t quite run without flailing his arms and immediately losing the tofu. After several failed attempts, he gave up on running with the now-dissolved chunk of tofu, and began attempting to eat the remaining pieces from off the ground. Suffice it to say we lost the race, but we had a good time anyway.
It was a long day yesterday, and I’m pretty tired, but this kind of stuff is what college is all about. Yesterday was definitely a perfect day to be in college.
I got a couple pictures of Spring Swing from my friend Becca. These ones are of me and Alicia and are just a few of the many available on the Rugcutters web site. As a dancer who’s learning, it’s nice to have pictures of yourself, because it gives you feedback on what you need to work on. Anyway, point is I apologize for the vanity, enjoy the pics.
