Room Draw Sucks

I wasn’t supposed to need to go to room draw. I’m not supposed to be here fall term. I turned my petition in to take fall term off yesterday! The Dean of Students’ office told me it’d be in my box by this afternoon… and it wasn’t. You’d think 24 hours would be enough turnaround time.

At any rate, upon checking my mail this afternoon at 5 I was shocked to discover that my petition had not, in fact, been processed and returned to me. Ordinarily, this would be of no concern, but today was the dreaded room draw. If I didn’t draw, and my petition was denied, I’d get last pick for a room (!). Rather than risk it, I decided to draw. Room draw began in an hour and a half, and I had absolutely no plan whatsoever.

Fortunately, things worked out for me pretty well. I talked to my friend Nick, who had a bad draw number and didn’t have a plan for where to live. I told him I’d draw him in, and if my petition was approved (I see no reason why it won’t be), he’ll just find someone else to live with him. Since my number was much better than his, he’d end up with a much better room either way. I figured it was a win-win situation.

I just hope ResLife doesn’t get angry about this. After all, in all likelihood, I’ll have a nice letter tomorrow morning saying that my petition was approved and I’ll be gone in the fall. I can see how this whole scenario would look a little fishy. But hey, I was just trying to ensure that I’d have a decent room to live in, right?

Oh well, at least I have a room to live in if all else fails, right?

  1. My Petition
I got the word that my petition was granted today. I’m sure Res Life is gonna hate me for pulling this stunt.
