Is anyone else really bad with names? I mean, I would assume so, but I’m starting to get skeptical, since everyone seems to remember my name and I seem to remember no one’s.

Last night I went swing dancing down at Wownet, as I usually do when I’m in town. But there were few people I know there (since it’s summer), so of course, I had to ask names. Of course, the more names you try to remember the more you forget. There were a few people I had danced with before though, and so I asked one of them to dance. And of course, since I remembered her name, I said "hey it’s Giselle, right?"

…and I was completely wrong. In fact, I wasn’t even close. Granted her name wasn’t particularly common, but I had completely pulled one out of left field. It was pathetic. Of course, I apologized and we continued dancing. To add insult to injury, I said "you’re a grad student if I remember right." Which was also completely wrong. I was nearly shamed out of dancing. I couldn’t pick up a girl in a million years with that kind of memory.

Funny thing is, she was probably the best dancer I danced with all night. At least I won’t forget her name now.
