Here is the story of my last 36 hours:
- Friday, 8:30 AM: Leave Shrewsbury for Snowdonia National Park, Wales
- Friday, 11:15 AM: Having crossed the width of Wales, arrive in Llamberis, at the foot of Mount Snowdon
- Friday, 1:00 PM: Take a train to the top of Snowdon. Freeze to death, but get fantastic pictures
- Friday, 3:30 PM: Leave Wales for Shrewsbury
- Friday, 7:28 PM: Leave Shrewsbury for London
- Friday, 10:55 PM: Arrive London Euston Station via Birmingham; take a bus to Waterloo Station
- Saturday, 12:30 AM: ¨Sleep¨in Waterloo Station. Don’t actually sleep much, but be routinely awakened by your friends, and finally by a drunk British man who proceeds to chat you up at 4:00 AM
- Saturday, 6:34 AM: Leave London aboard Eurostar for Paris. Discover that the Chunnel is in fact a very large tunnel and is deathly boring.
- Saturday, 10:30 AM: Arrive in Paris. Walk a mile and half to hotel.
- Saturday, 2:00 PM: Leave hotel to walk around the city. See the Place de la Bastille, Place des Vosges, Quartier Juif, Centre Pompidieu, Louvre, Jardin des Tuilieries, Place de la Concorde, Musée d’Orsay, Tour Eiffel, and plenty of other things. Walk who knows how many miles. Take the bus the wrong way, nearly ending up stranded at the Eiffel Tower. Oh yeah, and get a migraine at the outset of your long walk. Ignore the pain and still have a great time.
- Saturday, 10:00 PM: Marvel at the fact that in France, half of the keys on the keyboard are in different places, and therefore, everything you blog costs twice as much as it should because you’re typing painfully slowly.
Paris is going to rock. The question is, can I afford to tell you about it?
