No, really. Blogging is not my idea of a fun Saturday night. I even have off work tomorrow. I went to visit my friend Mike for awhile at Cornell, but he was on call and his girlfriend was over and it was clear that my presence wasn’t needed. So now I’m here.
I spent a bunch of time reading up on homebrewing beer on beeradvocate.com. I figured that would be a fun hobby to take up right now. But of course, there’s no way I can do that at home with my family around. And reading about world class beers is just making me want to go to the pubs in England again. I’d work on finishing my English beer diary (forthcoming), but that would just make matters worse.
This is not the sort of social life that makes you appreciative of being at home. I’m generally a fairly optimistic and upbeat person, but right now I’m worried that this is going to be a very depressing fall on this blog. Maybe once I have a fully functional vehicle, I get a cell phone, and I get some more time off, things will improve.
If I were at school, things would be so much better. In fact, I’d have moved into my dorm this morning, and I’d probably be cheering my success with a beer right now. I can’t wait till January, when I can finally move into said dorm and enjoy said beer.
In the meantime, I’m going to go to bed way too early for a Saturday night.
