Having an unusual hobby is weird enough, but when that hobby is social and time-consuming, it’s easy to understand how people can think you’re a geek.

So far we’ve been lucky. Most people still think swing dancing is a little cool, or at least not unbearably dorky. So we’re relegated to a level of geekdom that’s somewhat better than AV nerd or country line dancer. But it’s bound to happen sometime. I can tell. The day will soon come when saying you’re a swing dancer will have all the cool of saying you play Magic: the Gathering (full disclosure: I did in fact play Magic for a brief period growing up).

Whatever. We’re having a good time doing it.
