Whereas, “progressives” have been deemed unacceptable student behavior at Carleton College.

Whereas, students are expected to follow Carleton rules even while abroad.

Whereas, members of Summer 2004 Cambridge Economics Seminar are all dutiful, lawful scholars.

Be it Resolved, that the students of the Summer 2004 Cambridge Economics Seminar have selected tomorrow, July 15, 2004, as the date of a groupwide “MOVING PARTY.”

Now what is a moving party, you ask, if it is not a ‘progressive?’ Ok, so here’s the deal. It’s a party with stops in different rooms. In a progressive, these rooms contains different types of alcoholic beverages. But fear not, moving parties are entirely different. No, really. I swear.

And what is college if not one big excuse to have parties with ambiguous names that are nonetheless completely in accordance with college policy?

Of course, if any one of these people (not least myself) ever decides to run for political office someday, we’re probably all screwed. But that’s besides the point. Just consider this a cultural exercise.
