Roma. Now in picture form!
But first, let me apologize for not getting this posted for a couple days. I swore I was going to have one installment a day. It would have been almost… professional. But no. Like always, I am plagued by delays. These ones weren’t really my fault. A bug in Wordpress kept me from posting new images for a few days. Fortunately, through a little sleuthing I was able to find the cause and fix the bug.
So right, back to Roma… er, Rome.
When Abhinab and I first flew to Rome, I was feeling a little skeptical. I had just finished having a really good time in Paris. I knew that Rome was supposed to be a great city too, but I didn’t really know much of anything about it. I had been learning about Paris in French class for years, so I already knew a lot about it. And of course, I knew the language. In contrast, when I got on the flight to Rome, I had no map, no guidebook, and no knowledge of Italian whatsoever. I was just worried that I wouldn’t be able to get around or find the cool sights.
When we actually got to Rome, I was even more worried. Our flight arrived at about midnight, and the shuttle we took didn’t get us to Termini Station until about 1 AM. For those who haven’t been to Rome, the area around Termini Station is not such a hot place to be at 1 AM. Moreover, we had booked a hostel right across the street from the station. While we walked down the street looking for the hostel, I was starting to seriously wonder what the heck we were thinking trying to save money in a place like this.
It turned out that our worries were mostly unfounded. Our hostel was basically a converted fifth-floor flat, holding less than a dozen people. It was nice, and clean, and if you ignored the drug sellers and homeless people below, it felt downright homey. *ignores the fact that Abhinab got asked for drugs right in front of the door to the building*
OK, so I just realized that I’ve basically told the rest of my Rome story already here. So go read that if you want to hear about the rest of what I actually did in Rome. Otherwise, enjoy the pictures.
