Frostbite in 30 minutes or less or your gangrene’s free

I am not usually a wuss when it comes to Minnesota winters, but it’s getting to be a little bit too much for me. This morning, it was nice. And by nice, I mean a sunny tropical 22° (that’s Fahrenheit kiddies). And by this morning, I mean 3am. According to the Carleton weather database, the temperature has been dropping consistently since then. Not the right direction to be headed.

I just walked back home from campus, and the temperature is currently -11.5 with a windchill of -24. I’ve seen worse, yes, but nothing really prepares you for that first cold snap. And it’s only supposed to get colder. Tomorrow we’re looking at an expected high of 1.

One single, lonely degree. It needs friends, don’t you think? Friends like 2… or 10… or 72 and sunny. :-)

But there’s hope. I’m going to the Lindy Gras exchange in beautiful New Orleans in 7 days. Woohaa! *freezes to death in smiling position*
