These are the decisions that truly affect our lives.

For so long, I have done my best not to get sucked into message boards. Back when I was in high school, I used to spend at least an hour a day browsing and writing on the Princeton Review college admissions message boards, even after I was admitted to college. It was a horrible waste of time. I knew if I ever let myself get sucked into messageboards like Yehoodi or MinnesotaLindy, I would probably never go back.

Of course, the problem is, in my attempt to abstain, I never actually did anything besides set up accounts on these boards. Eventually, this becomes a problem. As with any medium, you eventually have to take advantage of it at one point or another in order to private message someone or otherwise get something done.

So I never picked an appropriate user name, or set up an avatar, or did any of that stuff that you HAVE to do if anyone is ever to take you seriously on such a board. Being ‘leetucker’ is not only square, it broadcasts loud and clear that I’m a newbie. I’ve realized I need to do it. Fast.

Here are some of my ideas:

• minnithacalee - not exactly creative, but sounds interesting, and gets the point across
• leesayshi - really just an inside joke, probably an inside joke gone wrong. But it’s something
• thatguy - generic, memorable, effective. But I don’t know that I want to be that guy
• - ok, yeah, so that’s about it. Apparently I’m uncreative.

In all likelihood, no one reading this actually cares. But I appreciate all feedback and suggestions (Yes, even whatever horrible thing you’re thinking right now). So help a poor, misunderstood future message board junkie out. Cause if I’m gonna be a loser, I might as well be a loser with a good name.
