My life has been a smorgasboard of little things piling up lately. I keep telling myself, “only ___ more days until things calm down,” but every time I think they will, new things come up. It’s been pretty hectic.
In particular, I’ve been spending a LOT of time doing dance-related things. I’m teaching Lindy Hop as a P.E. class, as well as maintaining a class blog with notes and videos. I’ve also been spending a lot of time organizing Spring Swing. We have had some issues regarding venues and bands, but I think they’re (mostly) worked out now. It’s been stressful but rewarding.
Then, of course, there’s my computer situation. Two and a half weeks and $650 later, I have a completely brand new machine. It’s a great machine and it should last me quite awhile, so that’s good. But the amount of time I’ve spent ordering parts and putting things together has put a huge dent in my ability to carry on with other things (like getting a new driver’s license, passport, visa, plane tickets, Rugcutters business, etc). The backlog has been frustrating, but I’m finally starting to get caught up on some things.
Of course, let’s make no mention of academics at this point. I’m going to have a lot of work to in the near future to make up for some of the things I’ve been putting off. C’est la vie.
But then again, I have a free plane ticket to use and a lot of swing dancing to do. I may die this weekend (of sleep deprivation, especially once I “sleep” in the airport tonight), but I’ll die dancing. No one ever accused me of being a stick in the mud. DCLX, here I come!
