It’s time.
I have long realized that there’s no point in being apologetic about failing to post on one’s personal blog. I would love to say that I’m really doing this thing for the readers (what readers there were at one time, and what readers may remain). I’ve also long learned to ignore that guilty feeling that goes with “abandoning” a blog. What about this blog has been abandoned anyway? I may not have posted to it in 5 months, but I kept it online, didn’t I? I came back every so often to remove the comment spam. I took care of it. I don’t need to make any confessions; that’s good enough for me.
What’s really prompted me to write again is my new job. That is to say, my new student work job. I am now a tech guru for Professor John Schott’s class on new media, called We Media. Professor Schott is best known online as the man behind the blog Ratchet Up. I get to teach kids how to make blogs and put their work online and get paid. Like I know something about blogs. It’s a fantastic gig.
But actually, so many things in my life have changed in the last 5 months that it’s hard to catch up. More than anything, that’s what has kept me away. First, I felt my blog could not be complete without writing about all the amazing things I did in my last days in India, then without writing about my job search, my senior thesis, my car, you name it. But really, I’m past that. You’re not supposed to know everything about me anyway.
So enjoy it while it lasts. Because life is full of much more important things than blogging anyway.
