In Search of the Perfect Case

The paag signatureDefining cool through the way one protects his stuff is a curious thing, isn’t it? Sort of like evaluating a date by the condoms he brought along…

After losing my last case for my Gigabeat F60 MP3 player, I’ve been in search of a new one. I recently came across this sleeve. It’s fairly similar to my previous sleeve, a foofpod sleeve in red herringbone tweed. If they weren’t on backorder, I’d probably just pick another one of those up. But since that’s not an option, I thought I’d diversify into “espresso.” Whatever that says about me.

I am personally not partial to leather and silicone cases, especially since the Gigabeat isn’t all that prone to scratching when you take it out anyway. Plus, if you’re going to spend so much money protecting your player, you might as well have an element of style. (isn’t that the reason everyone and his mother bought an iPod in the first place?)

I’m ordering this case, but I’ve yet to find the perfect case for me. Although, at this rate, by the time I find my ideal case, the next generation of players will probably fit into today’s earbuds…

…which will then have to be made in espresso.

  1. Wow, so this thing arrived, and you have to listen to this from the payment slip:

Dear paag customer: Congratulations. You have chosen the most stylish iPod sleeve available to date. This says a lot about who you are and adds to your image of technical savvy and good taste. … Thank you for helping paag become the preferred iPod accessory of celebrities, music mavens, and tech forward Joe’s and Jane’s [sic] worldwide. Best regards, paag.

Pretty silly. Although I am of course all of those things.

Also, the case is a lot thicker than my old one. I probably should have gone with another foof.
