22 Is the New 30

Marilyn Monroe on her 30th birthdayWell, it’s all downhill from here.

Today is my 22nd birthday. Thankfully, it will not be as raucous/stupid as my 21st. Certainly no need to relive that (though I’m hoping to get some friends together for a night at the pub tomorrow).

But what does one do to celebrate such an unassuming birthday? It’s the first of a long string of “you’re getting older, and not in a good way” birthdays. I’m not even doing anything exciting for my birthday; I’m working, running my weekly swing dance club, and that’s about it. Except for the nice posts on my Facebook wall, today might as well be any other day.

The fact that I’m currently searching for an apartment and getting ready to start a “real” job doesn’t make me feel any younger either. The real world is certainly closing in on me quickly.

I feel old.
